Gouache ink resist is an exciting technique where gouache, an opaque watercolor, is used to
mask where you don’t want ink to stick. I will provide photos of flowers and gardens for reference to make small gouache paintings. After the gouache dries, we'll cover the paintings with India ink and let that dry, too. Then it’s so much fun to wash the ink off and discover the new colorful image underneath. In the last step, we'll cut or tear up our paintings and assemble the pieces to make an imaginative, vibrant collage.
Tuesday, April 2nd, 1:00 PM, $150

The Grand Opening of Art for Animals will be held on Saturday May 4th from 5-7pm and promises to be a lively event! The zoo stated “because every person has the power to create meaningful change” resonated strongly with Cheryl. Now you too can make a difference for the animals of the world and come out with a beautiful piece of Seattle history in the form of art. For more information, click here.
Have you ever wanted to sell your art, but get hung up when a gallery asks you for an artist’s bio or statement? Not sure what your personal brand is? Do you want to promote yourself, but aren’t sure how?
In this one-day class, you’ll learn the big picture basics of marketing yourself as an artist and learn how to put yourself and your art “out there.” Whether you’ve already sold a few pieces, or you’re thinking about starting, this class will help you on your path to being known.
This class is part workshop, part lecture, and very hands-on. You will be encouraged to talk about your personal art, your story, and bring select samples (photos) of your work to show the class.

Learn how to create unique monotypes without a printing press using a gel plate for printmaking and botanical materials. In this class, we'll use an 8" x 10" gel plate with acrylic paint and natural elements, such as leaves, grasses, and flowers. We'll work to create prints that can stand on their own, but participants will leave with a pile of gel-printed papers that can be used for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed media projects.
To register, please visit the Art Classes Page.
